Amputechture 9:56 PM 7/25/2006 Amputechture. What is that? I have no idea, but what I do know is that, it will be the new title for the long awaited The Mars Volta's
new album. I remembered the first time I heard their music, Concertina. The recording was bad at that time, but it was something
new, yea, it was fresh, nothing you've ever heard before.
Then, they came out with their first album, De-loused in The Comatorium. The minute I put the earphones on my ear, my head nearly exploded from the exitement, the opening track was an intro for the second track and the intro went along really nice when it suddenly blasted off to the second track. I became more interested with what they had to offer with each track I listened to. The album had a mixture of rock, latin jazz, salsa and a lot of ambience. I told myself "This is new" and the album became my favorite album for nearly 2 years. Everyday I would come home from class, turn my computer on and had it on full blast. It became the soundtrack of my life back then. In 2005, they came up with a new album, "Frances the Mute". It had only 5 songs on it. The Widow (which made its way into MTV), was a blues song fused with the twisted mind of Omar Rodriguez Lopez. The 5th song, Cassandra Gemini was 30 minutes long. They went far with this one. You can even hear the influences of Miles Davis on that song. It was of course, something that the mainstream people would never understand. My friends would hear it and go "What in the world is this?". I wouldn't even bother explaining since it would probably be a waste of my breath. This album too, in time, became one of my favorite albums. ![]() It's been a year since then, and I cannot believe that they will come out with a new album so soon. 22nd of August 2006. There's a stream audio for one of the songs on their website, but I'm not going to go listen to it. Its like eating cheesecake before having lunch. Cheescakes are good, but they'll spoil the appetite... | No sir, no thank you 2:43 AM 7/22/2006 So I woke up today realizing the world is half as real as it should be, you watch tv and you'd probably see Oprah trying to make a drama out of something again, you watch the news you see Israel trying to give out reasons on why they should bomb Lebanon and then finally, you turn the channel and you'd see a bunch of immature kids trying so hard to become celebrities. So it got me thinking, why is it that there's so much fake things going on in that "idiot box" lately? I mean, even the WWF doesn't even care the fact that now everybody knows that their a bunch of fake athletes. Why do I ask? Thus the answer is simple, people love drama, whatever makes you cry, would obviously make you happy deep down. "Oooh, I've got all these emotions inside me, I must be a HUMAN BEING". For crying out loud sir, you don't need someone to confirm the status of what kind of species you came from. I'm a drama king, I admit, I get overwhelmed easily, I mean really really easily. But I don't think I would feel comfortable having someone else (or something) to tell me that I'm human. So here's what we're gonna do. Take out a pencil, write down whatever it is that makes you sad. Then, turn on the TV, count all the things that would match up to your list and you'll probably see what I'm talking about. If you see an animal being hit by a car right in front of your eyes, yes, you can cry shamefully on the asphalt, but if you're seeing this on the TV, hold it right there. If you decided to cry or feel sad at that time, you my friend, yes you, are falling into the trap of a real disturbing man behind the screen. I mean, he must be a real sicko to try and film those things, haha. I'm 23 years old, and of course I don't want to be doing things told by other people. I get that enough already from my parents, why should I be trying to do things according to some other people that I don't even know of? With the ever growing reality shows on tv, you can see that these "showmakers" have become really bold in trying to make the people do whatever it is that they want them to do. The sad thing is, it is of course all about the money. By voting, they get more money, if you don't vote, then, all is wasted for nothing. You can obviously see how the host would be so drama in trying to get people to vote. "It is because you didn't vote, one of these students will have to go home" ::Pulls out a bag from the stage:: Well dude, if no one gets out, the show will probably be on air till the next World War III. Now that would be stupid wouldn't it? I don't really think the host gives a crap about the participants at all, I mean, I'm very very sure that he would just come home that night, crawl up to his bed and sleep soundly till kingdom come. Enough about that. It's 4 O clock in the morning and I'm starting to sound like I have a personal grudge on all these reality shows or something. Don't take this article seriously because I may sound like I don't watch TV at all, but I do, 24-7. Felt betrayed? I could care less. | |
